Kolkata-bound train in Dhaka rams car, 5 killed

Dhaka : Five people lost their lives after a Kolkata-bound Indo-Bangladesh Maitree Express train on Sunday rammed a car in Dhaka, the media reported.

As per a chinese news agency, the accident took place at around 10am in Gazipur district.

The accident happened at an unmanned crossing when the car accidently got stuck on the middle of the track.

Despite severe damage to the train, none of the hundreds of passengers it was carrying on board was injured, according to the official. Rail service in parts of Bangladesh remained suspended due to the accident.

Bangladesh has one of the highest fatality rates in train accidents.
