Explosion near Times Square, Live: Donald Trump briefed, one suspect detained

New York : A pipe bomb has detonated near Times Square in New York. The Police Department says it is responding to a report of an explosion.

Some people have been reported injured while no report on casualty has arrived so far.

Passengers from the subway are being evacuated for precaution.

7:20 pm - New York Police department confirmsone suspect has been detained in connection with the explosion. 

7:12 pm - A law enforcement official tells The Associated Press that a man had a pipe bomb strapped to him when it went off on a New York City subway platform.

7:00 pm - Visuals from the site of the explosion start coming in. 

6:52 pm - President Donald Trump informed about the explosion at Subway. 

6:48 pm - Media reported several people were injured, and WPIX television reported, citing sources, that a man with a “possible second device” has been detained in the subway tunnel.

6:42 pm - A suspected man has been taken into custody.
