New Delhi : The United States on Tuesday welcomed India’s emergence as the leading global power and termed the nation as its one of the most important partners in the Indo-Pacific region.

"India is among the most important strategic partners to the US in the Indo-Pacific region. We welcome India’s emergence as a leading global power and its role as a net security provider in the region," said US State Department spokesperson Ned Price during a press briefing.

He also welcomed India's tenure at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) as a non-permanent member.

Talking about India-China border dispute in Ladakh, he said, "The US has been closely monitoring the India-China standoff as the two governments are trying to solve the matter with talks. We support direct dialogue and a peaceful solution to the matter."

He further mentioned that the US is concerned over the way Beijing is trying to intimidate the neighbours.
