Delhi : Hero MotoCorp heavily relying on its 100cc bikes as its primary revenue source, the emergence of a strong competitor like the Honda Shine 100 can instill a sense of concern. Any diversion of consumer attention towards the recently launched Honda Shine 100 could prove to be a setback for Hero MotoCorp. To address this insecurity, Hero has devised a comprehensive strategy, which includes updating their existing models and reintroducing discontinued ones, such as the Passion Plus 100cc. By expanding their lineup, Hero now offers a total of five 100cc bikes to combat the threat posed by the Honda Shine 100.

Hero Passion Plus: A Stylish and Feature-rich Offering

Under the Executive range of Hero motorcycles, the newly relaunched Passion Plus stands out with its premium profile. Unlike Hero's Practical range, which includes bikes like Splendor+, HF Deluxe, and HF 100, the Passion Plus belongs to the Executive range. Prior to the Passion Plus, this range only comprised 110cc and 125cc bikes, while Hero's Performance range consisted of motorcycles in the 160cc and 200cc segments.

Featuring a seamless design, the Passion Plus distinguishes itself from other 100cc Hero bikes by showcasing more surface area. This design approach has allowed for the application of attractive graphics throughout the bike, seamlessly extending from the fuel tank to the grab rail section. The headlamp cowl also boasts matching graphics. The Hero Passion Plus is available in three color options: Sports Red, Black Nexus Blue, and Black Heavy Grey.

In terms of features, the Passion Plus shares many similarities with the Splendor Plus. It includes i3S technology, a side stand indicator, a semi-digital instrument console, a mobile charging port, and a spacious utility case. The bike's long and wide seat ensures optimal comfort for both the rider and the pillion.

Unleashing Performance: Passion Plus Specifications

The Passion Plus is equipped with the same 97.2cc engine found in other Hero 100cc bikes. This air-cooled unit produces a maximum power of 8 PS and a peak torque of 8.05 Nm, mated to a 4-speed constant mesh gearbox. Its double cradle frame is supported by telescopic front forks and dual rear shock absorbers. The bike rolls on 18-inch wheels with 80/100 tubeless tires both front and rear. Braking duties are handled by 130mm drum brakes on both ends.

A Strategic Pricing Approach

Priced at Rs 76,301, the Passion Plus is positioned at a higher price point than the Honda Shine, which starts at Rs 64,900. Clearly, Hero MotoCorp is leaving no room for chance and ensuring that options are available at both ends of the price spectrum. It remains to be seen how effective this strategy will be. While the exact mileage figure has not been officially disclosed, the Passion Plus is expected to deliver a fuel efficiency of around 60+ kmpl.
