Honda Activa plans All-Electric transformation in 2024 - Green drive ahead: Preview inside
Delhi : The popular Activa scooter will make its debut as an all-electric vehicle by Honda at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
The Japanese company has big ambitions to introduce 30 new electric motorcycles by 2030; some of the noteworthy models are probably going to make their debut on January 9. The company has been working on the electric Activa for years, and it will make its Indian premiere in 2024. However, since the CES 2024 would provide Honda a chance to demonstrate its mass-market electric scooter development know-how, it makes sense for the company to make its worldwide debut there.
Honda expects the electric variant of its best-selling two-wheeler model in India to play a major role in assisting the company in meeting its environmental goals.
Note that by 2040, the Japanese manufacture wants all of its vehicles to be battery electric (BEVs) or fuel cell electric (FCEVs) in order to reach 100% electrification.
Features of the upcoming expected Activa EV
The Activa Electric will have a peak speed of about 50 km/h and a fixed-battery arrangement. Honda Activa Electric would in fact be built on the same chassis as the current petrol-powered Honda Activa. It is probable that the Japanese engineers will modify it to accommodate the electric drivetrain and incorporate extra bracing to support the weight of the batteries. Honda has a portable battery called the Honda Mobile Power Pack that it uses for battery switching. This is available on the foreign-sold Honda PCX Electric electric scooter. Still, the Honda Activa Electric may be the first electric product.
Potentially, Honda's first electric two-wheeler will be the Activa Electric. As a result, the Honda Activa Electric might have a long list of goodies, including alloy wheels, disc brakes up front, a combi-braking system, a digital instrument panel with complete MID, smartphone charging ports, etc.
To make the scooter more useable for a wider variety of users, practical features like a level floor, hooks for nets, lockable storage in the front apron, maximised under-seat storage, a load-carrying rear grab handle, etc., might also be made standard across the range. The Honda Activa Electric is probably going to take style ideas from its brothers, the ICE-powered Honda Activa 6G and Honda Activa 125 scooters.
