Delhi : As the year comes to a finish, the Indian car industry has shown itself to be competitive once again, with SUVs dominating the sales charts more than in the past. Family-oriented buyers have also chosen to purchase three-row vehicles in a variety of price ranges, further boosting their appeal.

1. Tata Safari

The three-row SUV was introduced for ₹16.19 lakh (ex-showroom) and has additional safety features like cruise control, driver attention warning, ABS with EBD, ESP, tyre pressure monitoring system, emergency call, and breakdown alarm, among others.

Sales of Tata Safari saw significant growth, rising from 1,437 units in November 2022 to 2,207 units in November 2023—a stunning 53.58 percent rise.

2. Tata Harrier




New safety measures have been added to the Harrier SUV. Six airbags are included as standard, with the option to add seven for top-end models. Along with other safety measures, it also provides ADAS technology to help drivers. Harrier's bodyshell integrity was evaluated as stable by the Global NCAP. Additionally, the SUV complied with UN127 and GTR9 standard standards for pedestrian protection. The SUV received 33.05 out of 34 points for adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 for child occupant protection. The SUV has an overall safety rating of 78.05 points.

Sales of Tata Harriers increased to 2,326 units in November 2022 from 2,119 units, a 9.77 percent increase. 

3. Volkswagen Taigun




Volkswagen Taigun received five stars for safety in the most current Latin NCAP crash testing. Earlier this year, the vehicle achieved a flawless 5-star certification in the Global NCAP testing conducted using the updated criteria. Among the safest little SUVs available in India is this one.It also comes equipped with six airbags as standard. However, the vehicle that was put through GNCAP testing only had two airbags. In the Latin crash testing, the vehicle received 36.99 points, or 92.47 percent, in the Adult Occupant Protection category. In terms of child occupant protection, the Taigun received 45 out of 92 possible points. In addition, it received 83.28 percent in safety assistance and 55.14 percent in protection of pedestrians and vulnerable road users.

As of November 2023, 3095 Volkswagen vehicles had been sold overall. November 2023 saw 1771 sales of the Volkswagen Taigun, a 20.19 percent MoM drop.

4. Skoda Kushaq




Features like 5 Star (Global NCAP), 6 Airbags (Driver, Front Passenger, 2 Curtain, Driver Side, Front Passenger Side), Seat Belt Warning, Child Lock, Anchor Points for Child Seat, Overspeed Warning, Speed Sensing Door Lock, Anti theft Engine immobiliser, Middle rear three-point seatbelt, Flashing Emergency Brake Light, and Central Locking are all standard on the top-tier Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo 1.5L TSI DSG model. Six airbags are standard on the top-tier Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo 1.5L TSI DSG model: two curtain, two driver side, two front passenger side, and one driver airbag.

The total number of Skoda automobiles sold in November 2023 was 3783. In November 2023, Skoda Kushaq sold 1908 units, resulting in a drop of 22.03 percent month over month.

5. Mahindra Scorpio-N




The Global NCAP, which awards the highest safety rating of five stars, has bestowed onto the Mahindra Scorpio N. With an impressive score of 29.25 out of 34 in the adult occupant safety tests and 28.93 out of 49 in the child occupant protection tests, the Scorpio N performed admirably throughout the inspection. This performance demonstrates why the Scorpio N is among the safest cars on the Indian market. Numerous safety measures are included in the Scorpio N, such as two front airbags, side curtain airbags that come standard on the majority of models, ISOFIX anchorages, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

The Mahindra Scorpio N was the best-performing model during this time. Sales of the Scorpio series increased by an amazing 88.77%, from 6,455 units in November 2022 to 12,185 units.
