Delhi : Yamaha Motor Company has launched the 2023 YZF-R3 in Japan for 7,29,000 yen (approximately Rs. 4.43 lakh), including the 10% consumption tax. Let's take a closer look at what this latest iteration of the sub-500cc YZF-series motorcycle has to offer.

Design

The 2023 Yamaha YZF-R3 retains its familiar design, with no significant updates. It features a twin-pod headlight, full fairing, split-style seats, a side-slung exhaust, and 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends. It is available in three colours – Deep Purplish Blue Metallic, Black Metallic, and Dark Blueish Purple Metallic.

Features

Although the feature list remains largely unchanged from the previous version, the 2023 model benefits from LED turn indicators, replacing the bulb-type units on its predecessor. The motorcycle comes with full-LED lighting, and it is expected to have a similar setup on the India-bound model as well. The LCD instrument cluster still lacks Bluetooth connectivity, a feature that is available on the YZF-R15 in India.

Mechanical Specifications

The 2023 Yamaha YZF-R3 continues to use the same mechanical specifications, including a 320cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine, linked to a six-speed gearbox. The engine is claimed to deliver a maximum output of 41.57bhp at 10,750rpm and a peak torque of 30Nm at 9,000rpm, with a certified fuel economy of 25.4kmpl.

Hardware

Similar to the design and specifications, the hardware on the 2023 Yamaha YZF-R3 remains unchanged. The motorcycle still uses a diamond-type chassis, with upside-down front forks and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock for suspension tasks. It has single discs on both wheels and a dual-channel ABS.

Launch in India

The YZF-R3 was displayed to Yamaha's dealer partners in India, and several dealers have already begun unofficial bookings for the motorcycle. However, Yamaha Motor India has not yet announced an official launch date for the new models.
