Delhi : Aston Martin will use Mercedes-AMG hybrid powertrains in its main models, the first of which will be the Aston Martin Valhalla next year. Aston Martin will eventually offer an electrified version of each of its vehicles, including the Vantage, DB12, and DBS. Lucid Group, an American EV manufacturer, has also partnered with Aston Martin to build high-end luxury electric vehicles.

Aston Martin made the news as the company outlined its product roadmap. Lawrence Stroll, Aston Martin's Executive Chairman, remarked of the hybrid-powertrain collaboration with Mercedes-Benz. Our electrification journey will begin with Valhalla, our first PHEV supercar, and we intend to grow our PHEV lineup into core products, bridging the customer journey from ICE to complete BEV.

The supply arrangement with Lucid is a game changer for Aston Martin's future EV-led expansion. We chose Lucid based on our strategy and requirements, obtaining access to the highest performance and most innovative technology in the industry for our future BEV products. We will not only capitalize on the significant investments Lucid has made in developing world-class technologies, but we will also enhance and differentiate the driving experience through the work Roberto Fedeli and his teams are already developing, which is aligned with our ultra-luxury, high-performance strategy. He elaborated on the collaboration with Lucid.

Mercedes-Benz has been Aston Martin's long-term partner, providing engines and other equipment since 2016. The V8 engine that powers the Vantage, DB12, and DBX is already used in the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E-Performance. The Valhalla will launch with a similar version of the powertrain. The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance combines a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine and an electric motor to produce 843bhp and more than 1,470 Nm of maximum system torque.

Aston Martin will receive Lucid's electric motor technology and battery technologies, which will be utilized to develop a bespoke BEV platform. This will be utilized to underpin Aston Martin's supercar, GT, and SUV vehicles, the first of which is set to be released in 2025. This implies that Aston Martin will offer a range of vehicles equipped with technology from Mercedes-Benz and Lucid, both of whom have established themselves as leaders in the hybrid and battery-electric industries, respectively.

Aston Martin is likely to launch the new DB12 to India in a few months. This GT car is a significant upgrade over the DB11 and is expected to cost roughly Rs 4.75 crore (ex-showroom) before options.
