Delhi : One of the main forces behind the 2W EV revolution in India has been the increase in gasoline prices. Having said that, several other variables also had a role in this. The FAME II subsidy provided by the Indian government is one of the major drivers.

This FAME II subsidy programme, which was established in 2019, has lowered the cost for EV consumers. However, things did not turn out as expected, and there will be repercussions. This subsidy programme will undergo adjustments on June 1st, 2023, which will have a significant impact on the pricing. Let's look at it.

From June 1st, electric scooter prices will increase

The current subsidy rate for qualified EVs is Rs. 15,000 per kWh, with discounts available up to 40% of the ex-sh price. This was very advantageous for potental EV purchasers and generated a lot of interest.

These advantages will be lessened as a result of the recent changes to the FAME II subsidy plan, which take effect on June 1, 2023. Instead of being Rs. 15,000 per kWh battery, the subsidy price is now Rs. 10,000. Additionally, instead of 40% as it was before the modification, the incentive barrier is now 15% of the ex-sh price.

Cost increases for Tork Kratos and Ather 450x

Customers who reserve an electric scooter now will be eligible for the current subsidy rates, according to a statement from Ather Energy. They would be able to save up to Rs 32,500 as a result. Additionally, according to Ather, this deal is only good for a short time and while supplies last. Tork also announced something similar. Before June 1, 2023, buyers of the Tork Kratos electric motorbike would be entitled for savings of up to Rs 40,000. Prior to May 31st, 2023, interested consumers must pay Rs. 2,999 to reserve Kratos and Kratos R.
