Delhi : On April 19, 2023, Tata Motors will introduce the Altroz CNG in India after nearly three months of display at the Auto Expo. The new vehicle will be offered by Tata Motors above the company's current Tiago and Tigor CNG-powered models.

The 1.2-liter, three-cylinder, normally aspirated petrol engine found in the existing petrol-powered Altroz serves as the foundation for the Altroz CNG. In contrast, it produces 77 PS of power and 97 Nm of torque in CNG mode as opposed to 86 PS and 113 Nm in conventional petrol mode. Although the Altroz CNG's fuel economy claim has not yet been made public, it is anticipated to be comparable to the Tiago CNG's 26.49 km/kg.

Similar to the Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG, the new Tata Altroz CNG offers the ability to start the ignition while in CNG mode. The Tata Altroz CNG's only available transmission is a 5-speed manual gearbox, the same as the one in the petrol model.

The inclusion of the 'iCNG' symbol on the boot lid is the only outward difference between the Tata Altroz CNG and its petrol-powered predecessor. The Altroz CNG also has 16-inch machined alloy wheels on the sides, LED tail lamps with gloss black boot garnish in front, halogen projector headlamps, and daytime running LEDs.

Setup with two cylinders

The new Altroz CNG will have a distinctive dual-cylinder configuration for the CNG tanks in the boot compartment, unlike the Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG. These 30 litre tanks provide a tank capacity comparable to the single 60 litre tank in the Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG. However, the Altroz CNG's two smaller 30-liter CNG tanks are hidden beneath the boot floor, providing it a more practical boot area.

Three varieties of the new Tata Altroz CNG are anticipated to be made available: the XM, XZ, and XZ+. This will let customers to choose an Altroz CNG that is fully equipped with all conceivable amenities. A 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an engine start-stop button, auto air conditioning, leatherette seats, rear AC vents, and a front centre armrest are among the amenities that are anticipated to carry over to the Altroz CNG. Tata Motors may, however, also include a sunroof in the Altroz CNG, as shown in the vehicle on display at the 2023 Auto Expo.

The new Altroz CNG will directly compete with the CNG-powered versions of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza and is anticipated to cost almost Rs 90,000 more than the petrol-powered Altroz.
