New Delhi : If you drive a car then thoughts of brakes getting failed must have crossed your mind. One may keep his car in the best shape but there are some mechanical aspects attached which cannot be predicted or controlled; brake failure is among it.

We do not mean to panic you with this article, but we definitely want to ensure that you must know what should be a best way to tackle the situation in a real life.

Precaution is better than cure

Timely servicing and checking of brakes should be done to avoid such scenarios.

Do Not Panic

In case you experience brake failure in the car, the first thing you must do is not to panic. If you are driving in high speeds then there are several ways to reduce the car speed with the help of manual gearing.

Decrease the speed with gears

It is always great to decrease the speed of the vehicle to avoid the damages and this can be done very easily with the help of gears. The driver should calmly lower the gears to come to a minimum speed. This should not be done gradually but numerically; for instance the car is in the 4th gear then it must not be shifted directly to first gear, instead lower it to third then to second and then to first.

Check on lane

Whenever you realize break failure, try to bring the car to the side lane with all four hazard lights on to alert people. And then lower the speed. Keeping the car in middle lane increases the chances of an accident.

Use Handbrakes

Once the car is in lower speed, it can be stopped with the help of hand brakes. If those are also not working then crashing the car in a less speed will maximize the chances of your survival.
