Mumbai : Hyundai Alcazar has been officially launched in India for a starting price of Rs 16.30 lakh, going up to Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The car has been placed in the direct competition with Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus; also this is the first Hyundai product in India that offers three row seating.

Hyundai has informed that they had received around 5000 bookings at the time of launch; 55% of the booked vehicles are for diesel engine.

Alczar is based out of Create or calling it a bigger version of Creta would be more apt. While Create is already a hit product of the company, Hyundai will be aiming to attract both the new customers and old Creta customers who are looking for an upgrade.

Hyundai is underlining the space on offer on the inside of Alcazar and the SUV has a best-in-segment wheelbase of 2,760mm. With all three rows up, the SUV has 180 litres of boot space and the car maker claims getting into the third row would be quite easy too, thanks to the tumble down feature on the second-row seats.

Alcazar has been made available in three variant options - Prestige, Platimun and Signature - across petrol and diesel engines.

Prestige is the base model for the car with both petrol and diesel engine and manual transmission.
