Delhi : It appears that Hyundai is developing a brand-new small electric SUV for overseas markets, which could be based on the Casper. A preview of the zero-emission model's capabilities has been seen testing in Europe. According to reports, it was compared to the Fiat 500e and the VW e-UP. Following its introduction in Europe, it might also be made available in other developed markets.

Hyundai Casper (AX1) has a length of around 3.6 meters overall and has been in production since 2021. It had been anticipated for a while but was thought too small to make it to India. However, the India-only Hyundai Exter, which was released a few months ago, has gotten positive reviews from users. The Hyundai Casper Electric will be based on the same K1 platform as the previous vehicle.

The Grand i10 Nios, Exter, and IC-engined Casper all employ the same architecture. As part of a joint venture between the Gwangju government and Hyundai, GGM (Gwangju Global Motors) will manufacture the electric compact SUV. Early in the next year, the Hyundai Casper Electric might begin to leave the assembly lines for its home market of South Korea.

In both its normally aspirated and turbocharged configurations, the 1.0L three-cylinder SmartStream petrol engine powers the ICE Hyundai Casper, with a maximum power output of 67 PS and 100 PS, respectively. The Kia Ray kei car, which boasts a stated driving range of about 205 km on a single charge, may share a powertrain with the Casper EV.

The current Casper has dimensions of 3,595 mm in length, 1,595 mm in width, and 1,575 mm in height. Since only a tiny battery pack is anticipated, anticipate that identical proportions will be offered in its electric avatar. The spy photos reveal the presence of a test prototype that is camouflaged and well-hidden. Additionally, it might get safety and driver assistance technologies based on ADAS.

With the exception of a new grille section, a set of new alloy wheels, updated front and rear bumpers, modified headlamps, LED Daytime Running Lights, etc., the design will mostly remain the same as the ICE Casper. New elements could be added to the interior as well.
