Delhi : Unveiling of the new Mini Cooper Electric. While maintaining the fundamentals of the renowned Mini family, such the round headlamps, the small footprint, and the go-kart driving sensation, this fifth-generation vehicle is a significant improvement over the earlier model. Only the electric Mini Cooper has been made public so far; the versions with conventional engines will follow at a later time.

The brand-new Mini Cooper is the ideal vehicle for an urban lifestyle thanks to its electric motor and minimalist design. According to Stefanie Wurst, head of Mini, at the unveiling, "In the fifth generation of the Mini Cooper, we combine the traditional Mini DNA with innovative, future-oriented technology while enabling locally emission-free driving fun that is typical of Mini."

The car's extended wheelbase and new platform have allowed the engineers to fit a lot more than before. With its short overhangs, short hood, and long wheelbase, the 3-door body nonetheless exudes an air of agility. The bodywork lacks the traditional scuttles and fender flares, while the door handles are flush due to the futuristic design. The round headlamps, a Mini staple, and the recognizable grille are mounted on the snout. Complete LED lighting is added to the headlamp casing, along with new OLED DRLs that have horizontal elements. Each of these components can be chosen separately to create a distinctive DRL trademark lighting.

The new taillamps are flush and have an innovative design that has never been used on Mini vehicles. These also have adjustable OLED technology. The inside of the new Mini Cooper Electric makes a minimalistic debut while maintaining the famous design introduced in 1959, which featured toggle switches below the instrument cluster in the middle. The circular portion has grown to become a sizable 9.4-inch high-resolution OLED panel. It includes Mini Operating System 9. The dashboard now feels considerably more upscale because of the materials that surround it. Customers can select from standard seats or JCW (sportier) seats.

With the new Mini Cooper Electric, there are two available powertrains: E and SE. The lower-spec Mini Cooper E sports an 184 horsepower and 290 Nm electric motor. With this, the hatch can accelerate from a complete stop to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. There are 218 horsepower and 330 Nm of torque available for the Mini Cooper SE. This equals a sprint time of 6.7 seconds from 0 to 100 kph. Additionally, Mini increased the vehicle's range by including a 40.7kWh battery pack. On the WLTP cycle, this provides the Mini Cooper E a 305km range. With a larger 54.2kWh battery pack, the Mini Cooper SE offers a 402km WLTP range.

Mini guarantees that the new Mini Cooper Electric will provide the typical go-kart driving experience. With a longer wheelbase, wider track, and dampers and suspension components tailored for spirited driving, the driving dynamics have been improved. An 11kW AC charger is available to charge the Mini Cooper Electric. For the Cooper E and Cooper SE, faster charging is possible at 75kW and 95kW, respectively. This implies a 10 to 80% charge time of less than 30 minutes. Next year, the new Mini Cooper Electric is anticipated in India. The pricing of the most recent Mini Cooper SE is Rs 53.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
