Delhi : Customers have been suffering from price increases as a result of the BS6 phase two regulations, and to make matters worse, the Mahindra Thar has become even more expensive! The automaker has revised the pricing of its lifestyle SUV, terminating the promotional rates of its recently launched rear-wheel drive (RWD) variants, after raising the costs of its Bolero range in March.

Except for the LX petrol automatic variation, which has no change in pricing, prices for the RWD versions of the SUV have increased by Rs 55,500. The promotional rates for these versions, which were introduced in January, have now ended. A consistent price increase of Rs 28,200 is also applied to all four-wheel drive (4WD) models.

Just one month earlier, the LX diesel manual RWD Thar model had its first price increase, increasing by Rs 50,000. If we include it in addition to the recent price increase, that model is now Rs 1.05 lakh more costly since introduction.

Engine powertrain: Mahindra Thar

There are three different engine choices available for the Mahindra Thar, including a 2.2-liter diesel engine with 130PS and 300Nm and a 2-liter turbo-petrol engine with 150PS and 320Nm for the 4WD models. Both vehicles are equipped with a six-speed manual and automatic transmission.

The RWD models, on the other hand, come with a smaller 1.5-liter diesel engine (118PS and 300Nm) combined with a six-speed manual gearbox as well as the same 2-liter gasoline engine as the 4WD models, but only with a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Interior features: Mahindra Thar

The Thar has an electrically controlled air conditioner, halogen headlights with LED DRLs, cruise control, a washable inside floor, and a removable roof panel in addition to a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The off-roader is equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill hold and descend control, and three-point seatbelts for every passenger.

Price cost and Competition: Mahindra Thar

The Thar is currently priced between Rs. 10.55 lakh to Rs. 16.77 lakh (ex-showroom) with the revised tariffs in place. The Force Gurkha and the soon-to-be-released Maruti Jimny are competitors of the three-door, four-seater lifestyle SUV. In addition, it may be seen as a daring substitute for small SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Toyota Hyryder, and Maruti Grand Vitara.
