Delhi : With the introduction of the Eletre electric performance SUV this week, renowned British automaker Lotus made its formal debut in the Indian market. A classic ICE two-door coupe from the renowned sportscar brand won't be available to ICE lovers until 2024, despite the fact that the all-electric product represents a new direction for the Geely-owned carmaker. The carmaker has said that the Emira, scheduled to debut in India in 2024, will be its next offering. Lotus's Indian representative is Exclusive Motors, situated in Delhi.

The Lotus Emira will be delivered as a completely built unit (CBU) and is anticipated to cost between ₹1.6 crore and ₹2 crore (ex-showroom). The Mercedes-AMG E63, BMW M5, Porsche 718 Cayman, Lexus LC 500h, and other vehicles will be challenged by the Emira at this price range.

The Lotus Emira is a lightweight sportscar that had its world premiere in 2021. It will also be the final gasoline-powered vehicle that the business produces. The new Emira promises agility and pure driving joy, building on the same concepts as some of the brand's earlier classics, like as the Elise, Exige, Evora, and more. The Evija hypercar is the source of numerous design cues that the two-door performance coupe adopts, such as the low-slung bonnet, compact silhouette, and strong, sculpted lines.

The Lotus Emira will have two engine choices that provide power. The first is a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, turbocharged engine from AMG that produces 360 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. It is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. A 3.5-liter supercharged V6 engine from Toyota that produces 400 horsepower and 420 Nm will also be available from Lotus. It will be mated to a 6-speed manual and a torque converter automatic gearbox. Lotus has adjusted both engines to deliver a more unique driving experience.

The 2.0-liter engine can reach 100 kmph in 4.3 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 275 kmph, whilst the 3.5-liter V6 can reach 100 kmph in 4.2 seconds when driven automatically and 4.6 seconds when driven manually. The coupe's features include LED lighting, a 12.3-inch digital dashboard, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and linked car technologies.
