Delhi : With a current waiting time of more than 18 months, or more than 1.5 years, Mahindra Thar two-wheel drive, the popular off-roader in the class that is more inexpensive, has just been introduced in both petrol and diesel trims. Notably, the Thar 2WD has an ex-showroom starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh and can be purchased for up to Rs 13.50 lakh. The price cap, however, only applied to the first 10,000 reservations.

The 4X2 and 4X4 diesel-MT AX (O) and LX models have a price difference of Rs. 4.17 lakh and Rs. 3.88 lakh, respectively. There are no substantial changes to the specifications other than the removal of the 4X4 option and a few minor adjustments; nevertheless, the Thar 2WD source new engine has a little power differential.

A 1.5-liter diesel engine with a 6-speed manual transmission, generating 117 horsepower and 300 Nm, powers the Thar 2WD. The 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine and 6-speed torque converter are included with the petrol automatic option.
