Expansion: Launch of New G-Class by Mercedes-Benz India

As part of Mercedes-Benz India's ambitious plans to launch ten models this year, the new G-Class joins the lineup. The company has already unveiled the AMG E 53 Cabriolet and the AMG GT 63 S E Performance in the Indian market. Santosh Iyer, MD & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, expressed excitement about the launch, emphasizing the brand's commitment to offering top-end vehicles that cater to discerning customers. He highlighted the G-Class as a vehicle with an iconic status and a strong following, which aligns with their objective of providing desirable luxury vehicles from their global portfolio. The priority allocation of the G 400d for the Indian market reaffirms the success of their strategy and direction.

Design and Features of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class

The visually striking design of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class remains faithful to its iconic look. The SUV retains the distinct G-Wagen appearance with its squared-off body, complemented by signature design elements such as round headlamps, exposed spare wheel, and side-hinged rear door.

Mercedes-Benz G400d Adventure Edition: Crafted for the Indian Market

The Mercedes-Benz G400d Adventure Edition is specifically tailored for Indian customers. It is available in four exclusive color options, along with a wide range of 25 exterior choices. This special edition SUV comes equipped with features such as a roof rack with C-profile rails, a removable ladder with anti-slip coating at the rear, a logo projector in the outside mirror, a roof luggage rack, a Manufaktur Logo Package, a PROFESSIONAL Line exterior package, a PROFESSIONAL spare wheel holder, 18-inch 5-spoke light-alloy wheels painted in silver, a full-size spare wheel on the tailgate, a door handle with an embossed logo, and a multifunction steering wheel in Nappa Leather.

Mercedes-Benz G400d AMG Line: Sporty Elegance

Powerful Engine and Off-road Capabilities of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class

Under the hood of the new Mercedes-Benz G400d resides the OM656 engine, a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo-diesel motor that delivers a remarkable 330bhp and 700Nm of torque, making it the most potent diesel engine in the brand's history. The engine features Nanoslide cylinder barrels, similar to those used by the Mercedes-AMG

Formula 1 team, and is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Renowned for its off-road prowess, the G-Wagen is built on a robust ladder frame chassis and offers excellent ground clearance of 241mm, underbody protection, and remarkable off-road angles. It boasts a gradability of 45 degrees, a maximum water fording depth of 700mm, a 35-degree sliding slope angle, a maximum approach angle of 30.9 degrees, a maximum departure angle of 29.9 degrees, and a maximum breakover angle of 25.7 degrees. The G-Class also features a special G-Mode, enabling independent activation of one of the three differential locks and low range, which optimizes the damping of the chassis, steering, and accelerator for the most capable off-road performance.

Eco-friendly Design Elements of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class

In line with eco-friendly practices, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class incorporates sustainable materials in its design. This includes the use of coconut fiber with a later emulsion binding agent, composite material with reprocessed wood fiber, and approximately 35.9kg of high-quality recycled plastics, among other environmentally conscious features.
