Toyota Urban Cruiser compact SUV announced
New Delhi : Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is now officially entering the compact SUV segment in India with its upcoming new Urban Cruiser SUV, which is likely to come in market in coming festive season.
In March 2018, Toyota and Maruti had joined hands to launch hybrid cars in the Indian market. As a part of their deal, TKM had recently launched Glanza which had its base from Maruti Suzuki's Baleno.
A news report has claimed that Toyota will now be taking base of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and sell it as 'Urban Cruiser'.
In one year, Toyota sold around 25,000 units of Glanza hatchback, a similar response is expected from Urban Cruiser too.
Commenting on the foray into the compact SUV segment, Mr. Naveen Soni, Senior Vice President, Sales and Services, TKM, told Hindustan Times, “We are very excited to announce our plans to launch the Toyota Urban Cruiser this festive season. The Toyota Urban Cruiser is another such effort to satisfy the evolving customer needs. Also, we hope that the Urban Cruiser gives us an opportunity to welcome a new set of customers who not only aspire to own a Toyota SUV early in life, but would also like to experience Toyota’s global standards of sales & after-sales services. We will share more details about the car and the launch in the days to come".
