Delhi : Mahindra unveiled five electric car prototypes back in August 2022 at its design centre in the UK. These EVs will start production in December 2024 and fall under the two electric sub-brands XUV and BE. Mahindra will now present these ideas on February 10 in India.

The BE line will be built from the ground up and will be supported by the INGLO skateboard platform, whereas the XUV series will be the electric version of the current SUVs. Mahindra will work with Volkswagen to co-develop this architecture using the MEB platform.

The XUV.e8 and XUV.e9, of which the former is most likely the electric variant of the XUV700 and will make its debut in December 2024, will be released by the brand under the XUV moniker. The BE.05, BE.07, and BE.09 models will make up the BEV line. With battery sizes ranging from 60kWh to 80kWh and capabilities for quick charging up to 175kW, each vehicle will have a unique body style. Additionally, the BEVs will have ADAS technology, an AWD layout, and drive modes. October 2025 will see the debut of the BE range.

With three 12.3-inch screens on the dashboard, a panoramic sunroof, over-the-air upgrades, and even a heads-up display, Mahindra's born electric range will be adorned with contemporary technology features including edge-to-edge displays.

Mahindra has already entered the EV category in India with the debut of the XUV400, albeit the first electric car won't be introduced until the end of 2024. The XUV400 costs Rs 15.99 lakh and comes in two variants: EC and EL. It is powered by floor-mounted 34.5kWh and 39.4kWh battery packs. Here are our driving impressions after driving the XUV400.
