New Delhi : Taking steps to develop Bikaner House in New Delhi as the culture hub in the capital, a sculpture park has been built in its premises. Rajasthan Chief Secretary Smt Usha Sharma inaugurated the sculpture park that has the glimpse of modern and contemporary art and culture.

Smt Sharma on this occasion said, “I am happy that the foundation of this sculpture park was laid during the India Art Fair and I got the privilege of inaugurating it.” Starting of ‘Bikaner House Dialogues’ on the issues related to art, literature, culture and heritage is a unique initiative under the aegis of eminent personalities with inauguration of the Sculpture Park in Bikaner House. With this, precise evaluation of these issues will be possible along with being successful in raising them.

She said that on one hand contemporary art is being displayed by young artists through such events, while on the other hand senior artists are getting a chance to recognize architecture and stay connected with their roots through Sculpture Park.

Smit Sharma congratulating all ‘Gallerists’ and ‘Artists’ taking part in Sculpture Park and team of Bikaner House said that taking such initiatives will continue in the same way.

Additional Chief Secretary and Chief Resident Commissioner Smt Shubra Singh said that renowned sculptors took part in this sculpture park and contributed in making this park a success.

Resident Commissioner Shri Dheeraj Shrivastava on this occasion said that participation of the young generation in a big way is being ensured under the auspices of ‘India Art Fair’ and Bikaner House and it is also deciding the future course of art and literature.

He said that in the first edition of the sculpture park, sculptures/idols of renowned sculptures of India and abroad along with emerging artists have been displayed. This is the first of its kind of Sculpture Park in the capital of India and it will provide a fair place to emerging artists to display their work in an easy way.

Many arts were displayed at the Sculpture Park including Monk of Shri Akhil Chand Das, Banaras Ghat of Shri Tapas Vishvas, The Trinity of Shri Satish Gujral, Air Bound Maya on the Move by Shri KS Radhakrishnan and 12.40pm of Shri Sudeep Roy.

Secretaries of many departments of Government of India, ambassadors of many countries, artists and personalities from the art world along with officers and personnel of the Government of Rajasthan were present on this occasion.
