Delhi : Bharat NCAP is about to reveal the safety ratings for the first set of cars it has rated since its founding. Originally slated for December 15, the organisation was founded earlier this year to evaluate the safety of automobiles built in India. It recently had its first crash test in December. It is expected that later this week, the first safety rating will be revealed.

Built in the style of the Global NCAP, Bharat NCAP is ready to begin its initial vehicle testing cycle on the designated date. It was formally introduced in August and is India's independent programme for car assessments. Having its own domestic automobile crash test facility, India becomes the fifth country in the world after the US, China, South Korea, and Japan.

Global NCAP used to evaluate automobiles made in India, but as of right now, Bharat NCAP is in charge of evaluating the safety standards of Indian-made vehicles. One of the first manufacturers to allegedly submit cars for Bharat NCAP crash testing was Tata Motors. According to recent sources, the Tata Harrier is the first SUV to get through the Bharat NCAP crash test this month. The new Harrier, which debuted in India in September of this year, and the new Safari SUV both received five-star safety ratings from Global NCAP after undergoing safety evaluations.

Several additional manufacturers are expected to queue up for crash tests at Bharat NCAP in the coming days. Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, and Mahindra are anticipated to submit up to ten cars for testing.

Kia is also planning to send two of its flagship SUVs, the new Seltos and Sonet, for testing. Hyundai Motor has previously revealed that three vehicles would be assessed by Bharat NCAP, perhaps including the Exter SUV and the upcoming new Creta SUV. Notably, Hyundai's Verna was the most recently tested vehicle by Global NCAP.

According to reports, Bharat NCAP will conduct a variety of crash tests, including front impact, side pole impact, side barrier impact, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Pedestrian Safety Compliance, and other evaluations. In following stages, the programme seeks to add rear collision protection and combine technologies such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with Lane Departure Warning.
