COVID-19: Bajaj to take care of families of employees deceased

New Delhi : The second wave of coronavirus pandemic has shaken India and people are coming together to help each other. At a time when help is the only hope, some companies have gone the extra mile to support employees as well as their families. 

Bajaj Auto - the three- and two-wheeler manufacturer - has announced that it will continue to pay salary for two years to the families of employees who succumb to COVID-19. The company also mentioned that it will bear all education expense of the employees child till graduation. 

The decision by Bajaj Auto was announced on LinkedIn, adding that the medical insurance provided by the company will also be extended by five years for the deceaseds' dependents. 

In the Linkedin post announcing the decision, Bajaj Auto, said, "Payment of monthly salary of up to Rs 2 lakh per month for 24 months, education assistance for a maximum of two children of Rs 1 lakh per child per annum up to 12th standard and Rs 5 lakh per annum per child for graduation will be offered under the assistance policy." It added, "As an employee-centric organisation, we will continue to provide constant support to all our employees through various measures and initiatives including but not limited to Covid care facilities, proactive testing, hospitalisation assistance, vaccination camps."

Earlier, Borosil, the glassware and kitchenware company, had announced a similar decision, saying families of employees who succumb to coronavirus will receive the salary for two years. Borosil too plans to fund the education of the children of the deceased employees till graduation.
