New Delhi : Superstar Rajinikanth received his COVID-19 vaccine shot on Thursday in Chennai, his daughter Soundarya announced the news on social media. 

Sharing a picture of his father, Soundarya tweeted: "Our Thalaivar gets his vaccine. Let us fight and win this war against Corona virus together." 

In the picture, Rajinikanth can be seen sitting in a mask as a medical professional in PPE kit administers vaccine shot. It has not been revealed that which company's vaccine shot has been given to him. 

Several other celebrities, including Rajinikanth's longtime colleague and friend Kamal Haasan, have shared posts of themselves receiving their vaccinations. 

Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth's co-star of films like Moondru Mudichu, took his first vaccine shot in March. The actor-politician had written, "I took the coronavirus vaccine at Sri Ramachandra Hospital. Those who care not only for themselves but also for others should get vaccinated. Immunisation of the body immediately (and) vaccination against corruption next month. Get ready."

Rajinikanth returned to Chennai from Hyderabad on Wednesday after completing shooting for his upcoming movie Annaatthe.
