Patna Metro Rail Development Signs an MoU with Japanese Firm JICA

New Delhi : In a significant development for the future of transportation in Patna, the Patna Metro Rail Development has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on Tuesday, 28th, 2023.

Shri Rajat Kumar Mishra, Additional Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, and the Ambassador of Japan to India, Mr. Suzuki Hiroshi, exchanged notes for the Patna Metro Rail Construction Project.

The MoU was signed at the Ministry of Finance in the presence of Shri Arunish Chawla (IAS), Managing Director, Patna Metro Rail Development (PMRC) and Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Urban Development and Housing Department (UDHD), along with senior officials from JICA.

The project has a budget of JPY 98.612 billion (approximately Rs. 5,509 crore) and aims to address the growing traffic demand in Patna by constructing new metro corridors 1 and 2.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Arunish Chawla IAS expressed his gratitude to JICA for their continued support and said, "The signing of this MoU is a significant milestone for the Patna Metro Rail Development project. This partnership with JICA will help us in achieving our vision of providing world-class public transportation to the citizens of Patna."
