RCom to end voice call service within a month, port number by Dec 1
Mumbai : Anil Ambani's Reliance Communications (RCom) is all set to shut its voice services in less than a month or December 1 to be precise. The company will only be operating into 4G data services, said Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on Friday.
The customers have been advised to port their mobile number to other service providers. The TRAI has asked RCom not to reject any port request and has also asked other service providers to accept request of RCom subscribers till December 31, 2017.
The move comes after the company, reeling under debt of around Rs. 46,000 crore, failed to close to its wireless business merger deal with Aircel in October.
According to media reports, RCom has informed TRAI about its 2G and 4G services in in eight telecom circles of Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, UP East and West, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.
Rcom is set to hold a board meeting to consider and announce its results for its September quarter on November 11.
