Zomato explains 10-minute delivery plans for Chennai

New Delhi : Food aggregator website Zomato had recently announced that they will be launching a 10-minute delivery services in several cities. The announcement had drawn flak from segment of people, including Chennai Police who had raised road safety concerns.

Responding to Chennai Police, Zomato has made it clear that they have no plans to launch the instant delivery services in Chennai. Also, it is a pilot project, aimed for only a few cities.

The company is aiming to launch the project in metro cities like Delhi and Gurugram.

Zomato also explained that the 10-minute instant delivery service would not include long distance deliveries. The average distance travelled by their delivery executives would be 1kms to 2kms instead of the average 5 to 7 kilometres travelled by an executive in the standard 30-minute delivery. 

The company also stressed that there will be no pressure on delivery partners to deliver food faster. In fact, there will be no penalty on delivery agent for late deliveries.
