GST returns filing date extended to July 31

New Delhi : The Central government has extended the last date to file GST returns for May month till June 26. The move has been taken on the recommendation of GST Council, which held a meeting on the matter on May 28. The decision has been taken due to current coronavirus situation in the nation.

In a series of tweets on Monday, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) said that for composition taxpayers, the due date for furnishing annual return in ‘Form GSTR-4’ for FY 2020-21 would has been extended to July 31.

Further, among other relaxations, the Finance Ministry has also extended the due date for furnishing ‘Form ITC-04’ (intimation of goods sent on job work) for the quarter ending March till June 6.

It is recommended to file GST return on time to avoid last minute rush.
