Over 2 crore apply for 1 lakh job openings at Indian Railways

New Delhi : Over 2 crore candidates have applied seeking a job with Indian Railways that recently announced 1 lakh vacancies. Four days are still left in the closure of application submission process.

According to Railways, "Till date, over 2 crore candidates have applied for the posts and the number will rise further as five more days remain before the deadline comes to an end."

The online examination to fill up 90,000 posts in group C and group D and for 9,500 openings in the Railway Protection Force.

Over 50 lakh people have applied for the assistant loco pilots and technicians alone, said the official. Government is looking to fill up 26,502 loco pilot and technicians posts and 62,907 Group D posts.

Question papers will be provided to the candidates in 15 languages -- Hindi, English, Urdu, Bengali, Punjabi, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Assamese, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Tamil and Telugu -- to ensure opportunities for candidates across India.

To maintain transparency, students will be allowed to check their answers online post declaration of results.
