AICTE inaugurates Women Entrepreneurship in Waste Management (WEWP) Conclave 2023

New Delhi : Hon'ble Chairman, AICTE inaugurated Women entrepreneurship in Waste Management (WEWP) Conclave 2023 on 30.08.2023 at 11 AM in AICTE HQ, Nelson Mandela Marg in presence of Hon’ble Vice -Chairman, AICTE and Hon’ble Member Secretary, AICTE.

AICTE, jointly with International Institute of Waste Management, is organizing Women entrepreneurship in waste management (WEWP) Conclave 2023. It is a program, which is developed by amalgamating both these challenges of our Country and converting it into an opportunity to empower women as well as manage the waste in the country.

Prof. T.G. Sitharam, Chairman, AICTE said, "I am happy to launch Women Entrepreneurship in waste management programme. This is an inspiring program to involve women towards self-empowerment. It also helps to solve waste management, a burning issue of our country particularly in urban areas. I must say that Waste to Wealth is a very excellent concept. For 5 trillion economy, we need more entrepreneurs who can create jobs and wealth from waste. I hope that this program will help more and more women to start their entrepreneurial activities in future."

Ramesh Unnikrishnan, Advisor-II AICTE said, "I welcome all the dignitaries present today in this online meeting especially. It is indeed my privilege to welcome all in launch of WEWP 2023."

Dr Abhay Jere, Vice Chairman, AICTE, said, "I thank International Institute of Waste Management for joining hands with AICTE. We will take this initiative to all our institutions and create the sensitization regarding waste management, circular economy in the right way. For a long term impact, we must get in touch with NCRD, which is working on National Curriculum Framework, so that the stress and impetus which needs to be given on waste management can be conveyed and right kind of components could be included in our curriculum, which will help us to push the entire concept of waste management within our school education system."

Prof Rajive Kumar Member Secretary, AICTE, said,"This is a program where we are managing waste and generating wealth out of the waste. This program is particularly for women and we all know that women are more sensitive towards nature. I congratulate the organization for choosing women for this cause and I am sure that with women association in this program, some good work will be done and results will be seen in time to come."

Waste management is an upcoming sector which holds great promise for entrepreneurs. This sector is growing at CAGR of 7.9% in India. Woman can hugely contribute to this sunrise sector. Women intrinsically have good management abilities and with this program we aim to help them prepare for their entrepreneurial journey.” said P.
