IIT Madras secures top rank on Education Institute Rankings 2020

New Delhi : Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' on Thursday announced NIRF Indian Rankings for Indian institutes. These ranks were scheduled to be released in April this year, but got delayed amid coronavirus pandemic and lockdowns.

IITs have once again dominated the list with IIT Madras taking the top spot, followed by IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay at second and third ranks.

IISc Bengaluru has maintained its status as one of the best institutes in the country and has been ranked at second place in the overall ranking. It has also secured the top spot among the universities, followed by JNU on the second number. Banaras Hindu University has taken the third spot on top universities list.

Among colleges, top three spots have been taken over by Delhi University colleges. Miranda House, Lady Shri Ram College, and Hindu College have been ranked first, second, and third among colleges respectively.

NIRF rankings are awarded based on the following parameters - Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practices, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, and Perception.
