New Delhi : The Supreme Court on Friday refused to postpone the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2022, which is scheduled for May 21 this year.

The plea to postpone the examination was filed by a group of doctors.

The top court in its order mentioned that the dates cannot be extended as it will affect the whole admission process which is already been delayed by 4 months.

The Centre had argued that the delay in admission will impact the availability of resident doctors, further impacting the patient care. The Supreme Court acknowledged it and said that the Centre's argument is accepted.

Meanwhile, the group of doctors argued that the postponement of exams is needed to give aspirants enough time to prepare for the examination.

Centre notified that 2.06 lakh students have registered for the exam and if it gets delayed then it will be injustice with their efforts and time consumed in preparation of the exam.
