UPSC Results 2018: Mother of 4-year-old scores second rank

New Delhi : Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Examination Results have been declared. Haryana’s Anu Kumari, mother of four year old, scored second rank in her second attempt for the examination.

Dependent mostly on online content, Anu gave 10-12 hours daily for the preparation of her examinations. Anu while speaking to a leading daily said, “There was no newspaper in the village where I was preparing for my exams. A strong will is necessary to achieve something in life and if you are able to do that, nothing can stop you from being successful.”

She also mentioned that after becoming an IAS officer, her biggest focus will be on  safety of women. The devoted housewife did not take any coaching for preparations of UPSC Examinations. 

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar extended his greetings to her and wrote that he hopes that Haryana’s girls will get inspired by her success.

More than 9.5 lakh students had applied for the examination this year and nearly 4.5 lakh students appeared for it. Only 13,366 candidates qualified for the Written (Main) Examination which was held in October – November 2017 out of which only 2,568 candidates made it for the Personality Test conducted in February – April 2018.
