Rahul Gandhi's busy schedule forces singer to cut short Vande Mataram

Karnataka : A singer was forced to cut short his performance on Vande Mataram as Congress President Rahul Gandhi was running on a busy schedule. All in all she only managed to sing one line of the national song.

Rahul Gandhi is currently visiting Karnataka to woo voters for upcoming Assembly Elections.

According to a media report, the singer only sang, “Vande mataram vande mataram, sujalam suphalam malayaja sheetalam, sasyashyamalam maataram, vande mataram”. In a video attached to the report Rahul Gandhi can be seen showing his watch to AICC general secretary and Karnataka in-charge, KC Venugopal.

Without missing a chance, BJP reacted sharply to it.Taking to Twitter, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra said, “Rahul Gandhi directs to cut Vande Mataram to a single line during a public rally in Karnataka. Now this is why we call Him “Sahzada”. His sense of entitlement is appalling..thinks this country is family property..can at his wish amend the National Song?”

BJP chief Amit Shah also slammed Rahul Gandhi for his gesture. "How can people of this great nation trust Rahul Gandhi, who has no respect for Vande Matram, our national song, which anchored our freedom movement and for which so many Indians sacrificed their lives."

Karnataka will go for voting on May 12. The counting of votes will be held on May 15. Results will be announced on the same day. The term of 224-member Karnataka Assembly ends on May 28.
