New Delhi : A day after the Central government announced cancellation of Class 12 board examination due to ongoing situation of coronavirus in the nation, CBSE issued an important update about how the results will be prepared this year. CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripathi issued a statement that the process of structuring the criteria has begun; he also urged teachers, parents and students not to panic over the situation.

"We’re in the process of structuring the criteria for Class 12 evaluation. We will put it in the public domain once it is completed. Parents, teachers, principals and students need to wait for it a bit. Also request all not to panic," Anurag Tripathi, Secretary, CBSE, said in a statement.

On Tuesday, PM Narendra Modi on behalf of the Central government announced that CBSE Class 12 exams will not be held this year due to ongoing coronavirus situation in the nation. He asserted that the decision has been taken in favour of students as their health is of utmost importance to the government.

The move to cancel the CBSE Class 12 board exams was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by PM Modi in which it was decided that the CBSE will take steps to compile the results of Class XII students as per well-defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner.

The CBSE had on April 14 announced the cancellation of Class 10 exams and postponement of Class 12 exams in view of the surge in coronavirus cases.

After CBSE, CISCE and other state boards also announced cancellation of their board examination for Class 12 this year.
