Kolkata : The health condition of famous actor Soumitra Chatterjee continued to be critical, though his parameters were normal, doctors in the hospital said on Wednesday.

The 85-year-old Dadasaheb Phalke awardee is in a "confused state", they said.

"Stable. Slept well. All parameters normal. Sodium high only. But critical," they said.

Since Sunday morning, he is suffering fever and doctors are now planning to conduct another COVID-19 test on him to check if this is happening because of the infection or there are some other reasons.

"Mr Chatterjee is still in a confused state which is progressive in nature with COVID-related encephalopathy and metabolic encephalopathy. He continues to be restless, arousable and has mild agitation and involuntary limb movements but no focal or generalised seizure event occurred," they said.

Soumitra Chatterjee was admitted to the hospital after he was tested positive for coronavirus on October 6.

He had to be shifted to the ITU as his condition turned critical. A team of 15 doctors is overseeing him at the hospital.
