Actor Vikram Gokhale passes away at 77

New Delhi : Veteran Bollywood actor Vikram Gokhale passed away on late Wednesday after suffering a prolonged illness. He was 77 years old. The actor was admitted to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, his health deteriorated on Wednesday afternoon and after a couple of hours he breathed his last at the hospital.

The actor is known for his prominent performances in famous movies like Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s romantic film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), where he was Aishwarya Rai’s music maestro father, Kamal Haasan’s Hey Ram (2001), as Acharya Yagyaprakash Bharti in Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) and in Priyadarshan’s rib-tickler De Dana Dan (2009) and many others.

He has also bagged the National Award for Best Actor category for his Marathi film Anumati. He was also conferred the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2011 for his Acting in Theatre.
