New Delhi : Comedian Raju Srivastava passed away on Wednesday at the age of 58. He was undergoing treatment in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi after he suffered a heart attack on August 10, 2022.

The comedian passed away at around 10:00 am, after fighting death for 41 days in the hospital. The last rites will be performed on Thursday in Delhi.

Raju Srivastava had collapsed suddenly after doing workout at the gym. He complained of uneasiness and was moved to the hospital same day; he underwent an angioplasty the same day and has been on a ventilator ever since.

In the past couple of days, a lot of fluctuations were reported in regards to his health. 

Raju, best known for his stage character 'Gajodhar', was born on December 25, 1963, in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur in a middle-class family. His father, Ramesh Chandra Srivastava, was a poet. He was a good mimic since his early days.

Raju Srivastava rose to fame from stand-up comedy talent hunt show 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge'. Since then, he has featured in many Bollywood movies.

He is survived by his wife Shikha, whom he married in 1993, and their children Antara and Ayushman.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid his tribute to the comedian and wrote: "Raju Srivastava brightened our lives with laughter, humour and positivity. He leaves us too soon but he will continue to live in the hearts of countless people thanks to his rich work over the years. His demise is saddening. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti."
