Drug Case: Rhea Chakraborty's bail plea rejected

Mumbai : Actress Rhea Chakraborty has been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau on Tuesday in connection with the drugs-related allegations in Sushant Singh Rajput case. The actress was sent to the judicial custody and asked to go to sessions court for bail.

Rhea has been charged with organizing drugs for the Bollywood star after three days of questioning. She "is an active member of the drug syndicate connected with drug supplies," the Narcotics Control Bureau said in its court documents.

If the charges are proved then she faces a jail term of up to 10 years in the case.

"We have evidence against Rhea, which is why we arrested her. There is no need for custody," said Mutha Ashok Jain, a senior official of the Narcotics Control Bureau. He admitted that no drugs had been found on her.

According to media reports, she broke down and confessed when Rhea was confronted with her brother Showik Chakraborty.

Documents submitted in court say Rhea Chakraborty "procured drugs for Sushant Singh Rajput and used to manage finance for drug procurement with him".

Samuel Miranda and Sawant, who were arrested last week, "used to receive drugs for consumption of Sushant Singh Rajput", according to the document. "During interrogation, Samuel Miranda disclosed that he used to procure drugs on the direction of Sushant Singh Rajput and Rhea Chakraborty," said the agency.

"Dipesh Sawant disclosed that he used to receive drugs for Sushant Singh Rajput on his directions and on several occasions Rhea Chakraborty instructed him. Financial issues for purchase of drugs were dealt with by Sushant Singh Rajput and Rhea."
