New Delhi : German-born actress Suzanne Bernert will play the role of former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi in the upcoming film ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’. The much-awaited political drama will cast Anupam Kher as the former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh.The plot of the movie will revolve around Sanjay Baru’s book of the same name. 

‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ will be directed by debutante director Vijay Ratnakar Gutte. It will also cast Akshaye Khanna as political commentator Sanjay Baru and Aahana Kumra  as Priyanka Gandhi. Aahana has earned fame with her film Lipstick Under My Burkha.

For now, Suzanne took her Twitter handle to share a bit about the film. For those who don’t know the German actress can recall the role of foreign Vamp in the historical show Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat of Colors Television channel. Besides, she has also worked for Ramdhanu - The Rainbow, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. and television serials like 7 RCR and Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai. Not only this, she has even portrayed the role of Sonia Gandhi in a TV series titled Pradhanmantri which was hosted by actor-director Shekhar Kapur.

On Thursday, Anupam Kher took his Instagram account to share his first look from the film. “Happy to share my first look of #DrManmohanSingh, India’s Former Prime Minister from the movie #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister directed by #VijayRatnakarGutte & produced by #BohraBrothers. Creative producer is @mehtahansal. Film is based on #SanjayBaru’s book with the same title. 🙏 🙏#FilmReleasing21StDec,” wrote Kher along with the photo. Within a few seconds of his sharing the photographs, the comment section got overloaded with many appreciation messages. 

Hansal Mehta will work as creative producer for The Accidental Prime Minister and will strike the theatres on December 21, likely to clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s film Zero.
