New Delhi : The legacy of Bollywood actress Sridevi has been recognized with a Google Doodle on Sunday, August 13th, 2023, in honor of what would have been her 60th birthday. Hailing from Tamil Nadu, Sridevi, born in 1963, left an indelible mark on the film industry over a remarkable career spanning more than four decades, during which she graced the screen in around three hundred films. Her versatility saw her contribute to various cinematic genres, including Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam productions, all of which culminated in her becoming an adored and cherished figure within the cinematic realm.

Created by Mumbai-based guest artist Bhumika Mukherjee, the artful Google Doodle captured the essence of Sridevi's brilliance. The depiction showcased the legendary actress in an elegant dance posture, evoking the essence of Indian cinema through its dramatic typography and warm color palette. Beneath the artistic rendition, the caption eloquently read, "Today's Doodle celebrates Indian actress Sridevi, who is widely considered one of the most influential Bollywood actresses of all time."

A segment of the description within the tech giant's tribute reads, "Sridevi took a hiatus from the silver screen in the early 2000s, only to return with television ventures such as 'Malini' and 'Kaboom.' Later, she assumed a position on the board of directors at the Asian Academy of Film & Television. Her triumphant reentry into Bollywood occurred in 2012 with 'English Vinglish,' marking her resounding comeback as a leading lady after a substantial hiatus. The prestigious Padma Shri was conferred upon her by the Indian government in recognition of her exceptional contributions. In 2017, Sridevi's portrayal of a fierce and protective mother in the crime thriller 'Mom' earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress."

"Sridevi forever reshaped the landscape of the film industry, paving new avenues for women to command pivotal roles in Indian cinema. Her memory endures as one of the most eminent Indian actors of her era. Happy birthday, Sridevi!" concluded Google's heartfelt homage.
