Mumbai : Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor passed away in Mumbai at 67 after battling with cancer for two-long years. He was admitted to H N Reliance Hospital on Wednesday evening, where he took his last breath today. His co-star Amitabh Bachchan tweeted the news and his state after hearing it.

His brother Randhir Kapoor confirmed the news. "He is no more. He has passed away," Randhir told PTI.

Amitabh Bachchan confirmed the news on Twitter. “He’s GONE .. ! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away .. I am destroyed !"


Rishi Kapoor had returned to India last year after taking cancer treatment in the US for almost a year.

In February, Rishi Kapoor was hospitalised twice. Firstly, he was admitted to a hospital in Delhi where he was taken after he suffered problems due to an infection. After his return to Mumbai, he was again admitted to a hospital with viral fever. He was discharged soon after.

Rishi Kapoor, who is quite active on social media, hasn't posted anything on his Twitter account since April 2.

Recently, he had announced his upcoming project, a remake of the Hollywood movie – The Intern, with Deepika Padukone.
