Kalank Box Office Day 1: Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan's movie is a highest opener of 2019

New Delhi : Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan's latest release 'Kalank' received a grand opening on Box Office, breaking all records of 2019. The film has managed to bag Rs 21.6 crores on the opening day, highest by any Bollywood movie in the year.

Directed by Abhishek Varman, the film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit and Aditya Roy Kapur in lead roles.

Akshay Kumar’s period war film Kesari earlier held the numero uno position with Rs 21 crore, closely followed by Alia Bhatt-Ranveer Singh-starrer Gully Boy that earned Rs 19.41 crore on day one of the release.

This happens to be the highest opener for Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt too. Earlier, Varun Dhawan's biggest opener was Dilwale with 21 crores and Alia Bhatt’s was Gully Boy which had earned Rs 19.41 crores on first day.

Produced by Karan Johar, Kalank is a richly mounted period drama set in the 1940s. It is a story of family, passion and emotions.
