Noted singer Krishnakumar Kunnath passes away after live concert

Mumbai : Noted singer and composer Krishnakumar Kunnath passed away on Tuesday evening after taking part in a live concert at Nazrul Mancha.

The singer was in Kolkata to attend the two-day concert; he notified uneasiness during the break of the concert but went on stage to complete the show. He then went to his room in a five-star hotel, where his health deteriorated further.

His team immediately took him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead. He died of a suspected heart attack.

The concert in Kolkata had been organized on behalf of Gurudas College. Before the concert, the singer also posted pictures on social media. “Pulsating gig tonight at Nazrul Mancha. Vivekananda College !! Love you all,” he wrote in one of his posts.

Soon after the news of his death came in, many pored their tribute on social media. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "Saddened by the untimely demise of noted singer Krishnakumar Kunnath popularly known as KK. His songs reflected a wide range of emotions as struck a chord with people of all age groups. We will always remember him through his songs. Condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti."

Actor Akshay Kumar called the singer's death as "a big loss"; Akshay wrote on Twitter: “Extremely sad and shocked to know of the sad demise of KK. What a loss! Om Shanti 🙏🏻.” 

Singer Harshdeep Kaur tweeted, “Just can’t believe that our beloved #KK is no more. This really can’t be true. The voice of love has gone. This is heartbreaking.”

Actor Ajay Devgn wrote: "It seems so ominous. The news of KK’s death that too right after a live performance is terrible. He sang for films I was associated with, so his loss seems that much more personal.  RIP #KrishnakumarKunnath."

KK was among the most famous singers for the 90's generation kids. His soulful music has touched almost everyone. His song "Pyaar Ke Pal" is also tagged as 'farewell anthem' by many.
