Rishi Kapoor cremated, family says silent good bye

New Delhi : Rishi Kapoor has been cremated at the Chandanwadi Crematorium in Mumbai at around 4 pm. His son Ranbir Kapoor led the hearse carrying the late actor.

Amid lockdown, his mortal remains were taken directly from the hospital to the Chandanwadi Crematorium, where a few of his family members were also present.

Since India is currently under lockdown, only 20 people, all family members and close friends were there to bid final good bye to Chintu Ji.

Only a few members of the Kapoor family and friends were allowed to attend the cremation. The list includes actor's wife Neetu Kapoor, Rima Jain, Manoj Jain, Arman Jain, Aadar Jain, Anish Jain, Rajeev Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Dr Tarang, Ayan Mukerji, Jai Ram, Rohit Dhavan and Rahul Rawail.

Rishi Kapoor's daughter could not take part in the cremation as she failed to get the permission to fly from Delhi to Mumbai during lockdown. Kapoor Sahni sought a special pass, and she is driving down to Mumbai from Delhi today.

Kapoor had been battling leukemia for the past two years. He flew off to the US for treatment in 2018, after the diagnosis, and returned to India only last September.

He took his last breath today morning at the HN Reliance Foundation Hospital.
