Vidya Balan to play Math Genius Shakuntala Devi in biopic, to release in 2020
New Delhi : Bollywood actor Vidya Balan on Wednesday announced that she is all set to play the character of a Math Genius Shakuntala Devi in an upcoming biopic of the acclaimed human computer.
On Wednesday, she shared the news with fans on Instagram and wrote, “BIG DAY 🌞! Excited to play the role of Math Genius, #ShakuntalaDevi. @ivikramix @directormenon and I are thrilled to bring to life the true story of ‘the human-computer’ – a small-town Indian girl, who took the world by storm! @abundantiaent In theatres – Summer 2020.” (sic)
The film will be a biopic on Indian writer and mental calculator Shakuntala Devi. Directed by Anu Menon and produced by Vikram Malhotra under the banner Abundantia Entertainment, the film has been scheduled to release in summer 2020.
Who was Shakuntala Devi?
Shakuntala Devi, better known as ‘human computer’, was capable of doing calculations mentally. At the age of 5, she solved a math problem for 18-year-old students. Without any formal education, she could solve incredibly arithmetic problems. She has also earned her place in the 1982 edition of The Guinness Book of World Records.
