Will Smith makes a public apology to Chris over Oscars slap

New Delhi : Actor Will Smith has tendered a public apology to Chris Rock for allegedly hitting him on the stage of Oscars ceremony.

Will Smith had walked onto the stage and slapped Chris Rock over a joke about wife Jada Pinkett Smith's hair.

"I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be," Will Smith wrote in a post on Instagram.

He also noted that violence in all of its forms is "poisonous and destructive".

Jada Pinkett Smith is suffering from alopecia, and for this she had to shave her head. Comedian Rock cracked a joke on Jada's look to which Smith reacted violently and smacked him down.

Smith had later apologised to the film fraternity and repeated his apology on social media.
