Arvind Kejriwal announces free electricity in Delhi up to 200 units

New Delhi : With elections coming closer, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is leaving no stone unturned to lure the Delhi residents to vote for him. In his latest move, he announced that no electricity bill will be charged on the users who consume electricity up to 200 units.

Power consumed between 201 and 400 units will be at half price, he added.

"Today the cheapest electricity in the country is in Delhi," the Chief Minister said, adding that this would encourage power saving.

"Nobody says nothing when the VIPs and big politicians get free power. Why deprive the common man," Mr Kejriwal said.

Arvind Kejriwal also mentioned that the move will be benefiting over 33 per cent of the people who have been consuming power less than 200 units and the number will increase in winters as 70% of the people consume less power during that tenure.

Deputy Manish Sisodia also tweeted: "Just like good education and health care, a basic quantim of electricity to run lights/fans at home is essential for that." He posted with the hashtag #PehleHalfAbMaaf
