Haryana woman gang raped by 40 men for 4 days, police arrest 2

New Delhi : A shameful incident reported from Haryana states a 22-year-old woman in Panchkula has accused that she was raped by 40 men after being held imprisoned in a guest house for four days when she went to find a job, police said today.

The rape complaint has been lodged with the Chandigarh Police yesterday. The lady alleged that she was held captive in a guest house in the Morni Hills from July 15 to 18 where the 40 men came in turn and raped her. 

She alleged that, of the 40 accused one was known to her husband and had promised to give her a job at the guest house, the police said.

The police had arrested two guest house staffers in the connection to the horrible incident, Station House Officer of Manimajra Police Station Ranjit Singh said, adding a case has been registered and further investigations are under progress.

According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 2013 annual report, 24,923 rape cases were reported across India in 2012. Out of these, 24,470 were committed by someone known to the victim. Rape is considered as one of the most common crime against women in India. Every day news channels flash rape cases and even debates are held. Despite the big leaders in the country, following developments in all most all the sectors, the biggest threat lies in women safety. The crime rates against female groups in India are increasing at an alarming rate. It is high time for our government and law makers to take strict decision and action to help women stay safe and sound in the country.
