1,41,986 new coronavirus cases in India on Saturday

New Delhi : With a growth of 21 per cent from Friday, India on Saturday registered 1,41,986 new cases of coronavirus. The cases have grown from 10,000 to over 1,41,000 within a week, largely due to the spread of omicron variant.

India had reported over 1,00,000 cases on June 7 last year. The active cases now comprise of 1.34 per cent of total infections; the recovery rate has declined to 97.30 per cent.

The daily positivity rate has been recorded at 9.28 per cent and the weekly positivity rate is at 5.66 per cent.

With a single-day jump of 64 Omicron cases, India now has 3,007 cases of the new variant of coronavirus. Omicron has been reported in 27 states, with the most cases in Maharashtra with 876 cases, followed by Delhi with 513 infections. Out of the total Omicron cases reported so far, 1,203 people have recovered or migrated.
